Free Penn State Nittany Lions buttons available at Citizens Bank
State College, Pa. (August 26, 2008) - “Citizens Bank of Pennsylvania will help to kick off the 2008 Nittany Lions football season with the 36th annual booster button campaign,” announced Ralph Papa, Chairman of Citizens Bank of Pennsylvania and a Penn State alumnus.
Beginning Wednesday, August 27, and continuing through the 2008 season, a new button will be issued each Wednesday morning carrying a unique slogan for the upcoming Penn State football game. These free buttons will be available at 13 Citizens Bank branches in Centre (State College), Blair and Mifflin counties, while supplies last. At least 270,900 buttons will be distributed this football season to keep pace with high demand.
“For the past 36 years fans have anxiously awaited the issue of new buttons prior to each of the regularly scheduled Nittany Lions football games and any additional bowl games,” said Papa. “With their clever, pun-filled slogans, it is easy to understand why the buttons are so popular and why so many Lions fans are active and passionate collectors.”
Citizens Bank received more than 2,000 slogan submissions for the 2008 season. Slogans, selected through a competitive process, are based on creativity and appropriateness, as well as their ability to fit on the 2 ¼ inch buttons. Volunteers distribute the buttons at home games and at the Blue & White Game in return for donations to the Nittany Lion Club’s Norm Constantine Scholarship Fund, which benefits students selected as the Nittany Lion mascot.
