Citizens Bank and the Buffalo Museum of Science team-up to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

Free admission to the public

Buffalo, N.Y.      (January 13, 2009) - Citizens Bank and the Buffalo Museum of Science are teaming up to host “Citizens Bank Winter Community Day” at the museum in celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, January 19, 2009. The Buffalo Museum of Science, with the help of Citizens Bank, will open its doors to the public and offer free admission to the community.

Citizens Bank Winter Community Day at the museum will be bustling with various activities for families and children throughout the day including cultural presentations and a fair focused on healthy habits. The health fair will feature healthy-cooking demonstrations, diabetes risk assessments, blood-pressure screenings and informational sessions on how lead can affect your health. Family arts and crafts will run all day. Weather permitting, snowshoes will be provided to guests for snowshoeing treks through Martin Luther King Jr. Park.

“Both Citizens Bank and the Buffalo Museum of Science are important threads in the fabric of our community, and in celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., we are proud to join forces and offer free admission to the museum so everyone can to enjoy this cultural opportunity on this very special day,” said Robert M. Curley, chairman, Citizens Bank, New York.

In 1994, Congress passed the King Holiday and Service Act, designating the King holiday as a national day of volunteer service. The King Day of Service is meant to bring people together who might not ordinarily meet. It also breaks down barriers and leads to better understanding and ongoing relationships.
