Citizens Bank opens new branch in RBS Americas building in Stamford

RBS and Citizens Bank announce community, environmental partnership

Stamford, Ct.             (May 11, 2009) - Citizens Bank opened its newest branch today at 600 Washington Boulevard in Stamford on the first floor of the RBS Americas headquarters building.  Building construction began in 2007, and is expected to be completed by the end of June. Occupancy of the facility is underway.

With the opening of this branch, Citizens Bank now operates 49 branches across Connecticut and more than 1,500 branches in a 12-state branch network.

“We are very excited to extend our presence in Connecticut into Fairfield County and to bring the Citizens Bank tradition of commitment to customers, colleagues and the communities we serve to Stamford,” said Rich Barry, president of Citizens Bank, Connecticut. “Citizens Bank is community-focused, with the resources to compete with any bank doing business in Connecticut and we look forward to working in this new market.”

The Stamford branch has two teller stations, an automated teller machine (ATM) and four full-time employees.  The branch will be open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and will also offer appointment banking.

As part of the branch opening, Citizens Bank and RBS Americas announced that colleagues will partner with the Mill River Collaborative in a volunteer effort to celebrate World Environment Day on June 5 by cleaning up along the river, which runs adjacent to the RBS Americas building.  Colleagues will be working to support the continuing effort to restore the Mill River and its surroundings into a more vibrant ecosystem.

“Our ongoing partnership with the Mill River Collaborative is a great example of our commitment to community involvement. Through sponsorships and our Foundation as well as through the volunteer efforts of our colleagues, we are committed to being an active and responsible member of the Stamford community,” said Barry.
