Three-month paid leave is benefiting RiverzEdge Arts Project
Providence, R.I. (December 2, 2009) - Alysha Brock, a business analyst at Citizens Bank, has been named the 2009 recipient of the company’s Community Service Sabbatical. Brock began her paid three-month paid leave on December 1 at RiverzEdge Arts Project, a youth-development program in northern Rhode Island. Brock will return to Citizens in March 2010.
Brock, will help RiverzEdge Arts Project with its marketing and public relations. She will work closely with the youth at local schools and in the after-school program. She also will assist with special projects.
“We are deeply committed to making a real difference in the communities where we live and work,” said Ned Handy, President, Citizens Bank, Rhode Island. “Our sabbatical program is of particular value to the communities we serve. Our colleagues have the opportunity to spend three months making a significant impact on the lives of people served by local nonprofits like RiverzEdge Arts Project. Alysha will bring valuable experience to their program.”
Citizens’ Community Service Sabbatical program enables a colleague with three or more years of service to work full-time in the community for three months and bring back to the workplace a greater appreciation of the social needs and challenges in the community at-large. Eighty-five colleagues have been sent into their communities since the program started in 1994.
RiverzEdge Arts Project gives youth in northern Rhode Island paid employment in the arts and a voice in the community. RiverzEdge engages teens in a lifestyle of creative expression, disciplined effort, and economic self-reliance.
