Experience Carnegie Museums of Art and Natural History for free

Citizens Bank continues its tradition of free admission and free parking for "Not Your Typical Day" at Carnegie Museums in Oakland

Pittsburgh (November 15, 2004) - The Carnegie International occurs in Pittsburgh every three or four years, bringing together the best contemporary art and artists from around the world. This year's exhibit, which runs through March 2005, promises to be the best yet and you can see it for free on Sunday, December 5, 2004, when Citizens Bank hosts another Not Your Typical Day at Carnegie Museums in Oakland.

"Citizens Bank is proud to once again treat our community to free admission and parking at Carnegie Museums of Art and Natural History in Oakland," said Ralph J. Papa, President of Citizens Western Region. There are great activities planned for the day, including Travel Through Time, an interactive game sheet designed to encourage children 12 and younger to explore the wonderful amenities of the museums and have fun while learning about history.

"We also are very excited that the 2004-5 Carnegie International will be available on December 5 for everyone to appreciate and enjoy. In fact, there will be something for everyone at the Not Your Typical Day at Carnegie Museums, and best of all, it's free."

In addition to the 2004-05 Carnegie International, guests can enjoy numerous exhibits and activities, including Ancient Bronzes of the Asian Grasslands from the Arthur M. Sackler Foundation in the Museum of Natural History's Special Exhibits Gallery; Neapolitan Presepio and Holiday Trees in the Museums of Art's Hall of Architecture; Kawase Hasui: Landscapes of Modern Japan in the Scaife Works on Paper Gallery; Lebbeus Woods: Experimental Architecture in the Heinz Architectural Center and ARTventures, hands-on art making in the galleries for children and families, including activities relating to Maurice Prendergast's painting, Picnic.

In addition, children 12 and younger can pick up their Travel Through Time game sheet at the Citizens Bank table located across from the Museum admissions desk. When they find all six items, located throughout the museums, and return the completed sheet to the Citizens Bank table, they will be rewarded for their excursions with a free prize. Game sheets are also currently available at 43 Citizens Bank branches located in Giant Eagle grocery stores in the Greater Pittsburgh region.

This will be the fourth time Citizens has provided free admission and parking to the museums since 2001, when the partnership began. Since then, approximately 8,500 people have taken advantage of this opportunity to enjoy the museums at no charge.

"Our partnership with Citizens Bank has been and continues to be great for Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh and great for southwestern Pennsylvania," said Suzanne W. Broadhurst, Chair of the Board of Trustees, and Interim President of Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh. "Last year, Carnegie Museums of Art and Natural History reached more than 500,000 people in western Pennsylvania and beyond, and Citizens' commitment to opening the doors of these two Pittsburgh treasures to more people, for free, certainly contributed to that accomplishment."

Twenty volunteers from Citizens Bank will be on hand December 5 to greet visitors and add to the family-oriented fun at the museums.

Standard Sunday museum hours, noon through 5 p.m., will apply to Not Your Typical Day at Carnegie Museums of Art and Natural History. Free parking is available in the museums' six-level garage at Forbes Avenue and S. Craig Street, compliments of Citizens Bank.

For families interested in spending additional quality time together at the museums, special membership fees have been arranged during Not Your Typical Days at Carnegie Museums in Oakland. A Family Membership can be purchased for $115 (a savings of $15), which admits two adults, a designated Caregiver and up to four children to each of the Oakland museums, The Andy Warhol Museum and Carnegie Science Center, plus hundreds of other partnering museums and institutions across the United States. A Premium Membership is available for $175 (a savings of $25), which admits two adults, a designated Caregiver and up to eight children or guests to each of the Oakland museums, The Andy Warhol Museum and Carnegie Science Center, plus hundreds of other partnering museums and institutions across the United States.
