Citizens Bank Foundation announces Economic Empowerment Initiative for Philadelphia
$1 million program addresses jobs, job training and small business opportunitiesPHILADELPHIA (July 12, 2007) - The Citizens Bank Foundation has contributed more than $2 million to 86 Rhode Island non-profits during the first six months of 2007, the bank announced today.
“We are pleased to have partnered with so many outstanding organizations throughout the state,” said Joseph J. MarcAurele, Chairman, President and CEO of Citizens Bank of Rhode Island. “Two million dollars makes a significant impact on so many cited issues facing Rhode Islanders. Citizens is deeply committed to creating positive, sustainable change through our charitable giving program.”
Each year, Citizens Bank invests one percent of its pre-tax earnings in a wide range of sponsorships, partnerships and Foundation grants. In 2006, this amount totaled more than $2.36 million contributed to communities across Rhode Island.
The Citizens Bank Foundation grants for the first six months of 2007 are mainly focused in four areas:
• Civic and Community Development
• Arts and Culture
• Health and Human Services
• Educational programs

• Elizabeth Buffum Chace House in Warwick
• Providence Black Repertory Company
