Citizens Bank named one of Best Places to Work in Vermont

Burlington, Vt.        (September 4, 2007) - Citizens Bank recently was named one of the Best Places to Work in Vermont by a consortium of public and private organizations. This second annual program was created by Vermont Business Magazine, the Vermont State Chamber of Commerce, the Vermont Department of Labor, the Society for Human Resource Management-Vermont State Council, the Vermont Department of Economic Development and Best Companies Group. It was sponsored by HMC Advertising.

This survey and award program was designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in Vermont, benefiting the state's economy, its workforce and businesses. Citizens Bank was named one of the Best Places to Work in Vermont in the large category. Final ranking will be announced at an event presented by Vermont Business Magazine in November.

“We are extremely honored to have been selected by this prestigious group of public and private entities as one of the best companies for whom to work in the state,” said Cathy Schmidt, State President of Citizens Bank. “We are very committed to creating a positive work environment, built on a philosophy of respect and caring, dedication and professionalism. We pride ourselves in doing all we can to ensure that our customers, our community and our colleagues have what they need to prosper and succeed at work and in their lives. We want to also extend our congratulations to the other Vermont businesses that were selected as best places to work, because together we can make a difference in the business environment of this great state. We are pleased to be in such good company.”

To be considered for participation, companies had to fulfill the following eligibility requirements:

- Be a for-profit or not-for-profit business

- Be a publicly or privately held business

- Have a facility in Vermont

- Have at least 15 employees in Vermont.

Companies from across the state entered the two-part process to determine the Best Places to Work in Vermont. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company's workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final ranking. Best Companies Group managed the overall registration and survey process in Vermont with assistance from ModernThink LLC, who analyzed the data and used their expertise to determine the final rankings.
