Citizens Bank, Rhode Island and NBC 10 announce Champions in Action categories for 2008

Providence, R.I.         (September 27, 2007) - Citizens Bank and NBC 10 today announced the categories for the 2008 Champions in Action® program. Affordable Housing, Workforce Development, Youth Programming and Community Health Care are the four areas of focus.

Non-profit organizations which provide the following will be announced in 2008:

• Affordable Housing will be selected and announced in January 2008. The application deadline is Friday, October 19, 2007 at 5 p.m.

• Workforce Development will be selected and announced in April 2008. The application deadline is Friday, January 18, 2008 at 5 p.m.
 
• Youth Programming will be selected and announced in July 2008. The application deadline is Friday, April 18, 2008 at 5 p.m.

• Community Health Care will be selected and announced in October 2008. The application deadline is Monday, July 18, 2008 at 5 p.m.

Applications may be obtained online at www.citizensbank.com/champions. Completed applications should be sent to: Citizens Bank, Public Affairs Department, Attn: Champions in Action program, One Citizens Plaza, 5th Floor, Providence, RI 02903. All applications must be received by 5 p.m. on the specified deadline day.

Launched in fall of 2002, the Champions in Action program is designed to recognize and support non-profit organizations for their contributions to Rhode Island communities. A new champion is selected each quarter among a range of social service areas.

Each Champion in Action receives:

• A $25,000 contribution in unrestricted funds from the Citizens Bank Foundation;
• Media coverage from NBC 10, including public service announcements and  television profiles;
• Volunteer support from Citizens and NBC 10 employees;
• Extensive public relations support;
• Promotional support, highlighting the Champion in Action in all Citizens Bank branches and on its ATMs; and
• Exposure on both Citizens Bank and NBC 10 web sites.
