Citizens Bank in Rhode Island to partner with Salvation Army on 2007 Kettle Campaign
Citizens Bank to match donations up to $25,000 between now and December 24 in special green kettlesProvidence, R.I. (December 20, 2007) - Citizens Bank today announced it will partner with the Rhode Island Salvation Army on its 2007 Kettle Campaign by matching donations up to $25,000 between now and December 24 in special green kettles across the state. Citizens and the Salvation Army developed the Green Kettle Campaign to help meet the growing demand for emergency services and programs the Salvation Army provides its clients 365 days a year, but especially during the holidays.
The Citizens Bank Foundation will match donations up to $25,000 collected at 10 specially-marked green kettles located in Stop & Shop locations across Rhode Island. The Salvation Army hopes to raise $250,000 during this year’s campaign.
“Rhode Island is making history! Green kettles in place of the traditional red ones will be seen in front of some of the Stop & Shop stores that contain Citizens Banks”, said Major Debbie Burr of the Salvation Army. “We are very grateful to our friends at Citizens for partnering with us with year in our kettle campaign. The matching dollars given to us by Citizens will help us to meet the needs of thousands of families throughout Rhode Island this year.”
The Salvation Army’s Kettle Campaign is the organization’s signature fundraising initiative. Money raised helps fund seasonal and year-round programs including after-school activities, emergency and utility assistance and food programs. Last year’s funds provided food, toys and clothing for more than 3,000 families.
“We are thrilled the Citizens Bank green and Salvation Army red are joining together for this year’s Kettle Campaign,” said Joseph J. MarcAurele, President, Citizens Bank, Rhode Island. “The Salvation Army provides much-needed assistance to families, seniors and homeless people every day of the year and we are delighted that this partnership will help fund the organization’s many programs and services that assist the good citizens of Rhode Island.”
