At Citizens Bank, we believe that investing in the communities where we live and work enriches us all. That’s why we give to organizations that are making a difference locally by enhancing quality of life and economic vitality in the communities where we do business. Citizens Bank provides funding from the company and its charitable foundation.
Set #AnExtraPlate this season to help fight hunger
This holiday season, many will struggle to put food on the table. And while you may not be able to welcome them all to your next family meal, there is something you can do: join Citizens Bank as we kick off #GivingTuesday by setting #AnExtraPlate to help fight hunger.
Whether you’re setting the table for a party or sitting down for tonight’s family meal, take a moment to set a plate, snap a photo, and tweet it out with #AnExtraPlate and @CitizensBank. Or on Facebook, share a photo to your timeline with #AnExtraPlate, tag @CitizensBank, and set the post as public to be sure it’s counted. For every plate you share with us throughout the holiday season, Citizens Bank will donate a meal to a local food bank on your behalf. Our goal is 100,000 meals, so we invite you to set #AnExtraPlate any time you set the table—and find us on Twitter or Facebook to track our combined efforts. Together, we can make a difference this season.
#AnExtraPlate is an initiative within our Citizens Helping Citizens Fight Hunger program. Grounded in the belief that a good bank gives back to its community and to the people who live there, Citizens Helping Citizens strives to enhance the quality of life and economic vitality in our local communities. Remember, giving doesn’t have to stop with #AnExtraPlate—we encourage you to donate to local food banks in your community, too.
Charitable Grants vs. Sponsorships
We define charitable grants and sponsorships as follows:
Charitable Grants and contributions are made only to qualified, federal tax-exempt 501(C)3 nonprofit organizations, as defined by the Internal Revenue Service Code. Charitable grants are restricted to nonprofit organizations serving local residents in states in which the bank has a presence. Unless otherwise noted, charitable grants generally are for program support. Citizens Bank looks for opportunities where our funding can have a clear, measurable impact on the community.
Sponsorships are payments paid to any for-profit or nonprofit organization for which Citizens will receive promotional, entertainment and community relations value. Participation as a sponsor of an event or attendance at a community function is expected to help the company strengthen business relationships, networking opportunities and/or raise public awareness and strengthen visibility of the Citizens Bank name.
