At Citizens Bank, we believe that investing in the communities where we live and work enriches us all. That’s why we give to organizations that are making a difference locally by enhancing quality of life and economic vitality in the communities where we do business. Citizens Bank provides funding from the company and its charitable foundation.
Charitable Grants vs. Sponsorships
We define charitable grants and sponsorships as follows:
Charitable Grants and contributions are made only to qualified, federal tax-exempt 501(C)3 nonprofit organizations, as defined by the Internal Revenue Service Code. Charitable grants are restricted to nonprofit organizations serving local residents in states in which the bank has a presence. Unless otherwise noted, charitable grants generally are for program support. Citizens Bank looks for opportunities where our funding can have a clear, measurable impact on the community.
Sponsorships are payments paid to any for-profit or nonprofit organization for which Citizens will receive promotional, entertainment and community relations value. Participation as a sponsor of an event or attendance at a community function is expected to help the company strengthen business relationships, networking opportunities and/or raise public awareness and strengthen visibility of the Citizens Bank name.
