Citizens Bank Student Loan Application Requirements

The Citizens Bank Student Loan is available to undergraduate, graduate or continuing education students enrolled at participating schools nationwide. Program funds may be used for any education-related expense including tuition, housing, books, computer equipment as well as past due balances.

The Citizens Bank Student Loan is a fully credit-tested, unsecured education loan. The student is the primary borrower and most students will need a co-signer to qualify. International students may qualify with an eligible U.S. co-signer.

Applying With a Co-signer
Improve your chances of receiving the money you need for college and reduce your costs of borrowing by applying with a co-signer. If you'd like to apply without a co-signer, you must meet all three of the following requirements under the 2-2-2 Rule:

  • You must have a satisfactory credit, residence and employment history of at least two years, and maintain employment with same employer or in the same field while attending school
  • You must have two years' proof of current income (or, if self-employed, have been in business for at least two years)
  • You must be aU.S. citizen or permanent resident and have resided in theU.S. for the previous two years

If you are an international student or do not otherwise meet these requirements, you will need to apply with a qualified credit-worthy U.S. citizen or permanent resident co-signer to be approved.
