Bring canned vegetables to the N.H. Fisher Cats game on June 7 and receive a buy one get one free ticket voucher

Citizens Bank encourages donations from New Hampshire Fisher Cats fans at nine games this season to benefit the New Hampshire Food Bank

Manchester, N.H.             (June 3, 2009) - This season Citizens Bank,  the New Hampshire Food Bank, Rock 101 and the New Hampshire Fisher Cats once again are teaming up to “Strike Out Hunger.” As part of this program, fans can help fill the shelves at the food bank by bringing the specified food item of the month to designated games and receive a “buy one, get one free” box-seat ticket voucher good for any Monday through Wednesday regular season game (excluding Portland Sea Dogs games). The next food donation game is scheduled for Sunday, June 7 at 1:05 p.m.

Throughout the 2009 Fisher Cats baseball season, the Citizens Bank Foundation will donate $50 to the food bank for each strikeout recorded by a Fisher Cats pitcher during home games. The Citizens Bank Foundation’s donations will be announced so spectators will experience the excitement as more strikeouts lead to more donations to help feed our neighbors. A season-long maximum donation of $25,000 has been set. In 2008, Fisher Cats’ pitchers recorded 500 strike outs at home resulting in $25,000 being donated to the New Hampshire Food Bank.

“We encourage all New Hampshire residents to join us along with the Fisher Cats to help Strike Out Hunger this season and make an important difference for families in need,” said Cathleen A. Schmidt, President, Citizens Bank, New Hampshire. “Donations to the New Hampshire Food Bank during the summer are typically low, yet for many families, the need is higher at this time of year. Children who were receiving breakfast and/or lunch at school are home for the summer, placing additional stress on already tight household food budgets.”

The Striking Out Hunger game dates & specified food donation items are as follows:

Bring a canned vegetable
• Sunday, June 7 vs. the Reading Phillies
• Friday, June 19 vs. the Erie Sea Wolves

Bring a canned fruit
Monday, July 6 vs. the Portland Sea Dogs
• Sunday, July 19 vs. the Connecticut Defenders
• Monday, July 20 vs. the Trenton Thunder
• Tuesday, July 21 vs. the Trenton Thunder
• Thursday, July 23 vs. the Trenton Thunder

Bring peanut butter and jelly
• Friday, August 7 vs. the Altoona Curve
• Friday, August 28 vs. the Portland Sea Dogs

The New Hampshire Food Bank feeds thousands of New Hampshire residents in need each month through a network of nearly 384 registered agency programs. Last summer, the New Hampshire Food Bank distributed nearly one million pounds of food during the summer. To date, the Food Bank’s distribution is up 12 percent over this time last year and it is expected that demand and distribution will continue to increase.

“We are proud to partner with Citizens Bank and the New Hampshire Fisher Cats to help Strike Out Hunger,” said Melanie Gosselin, Executive Director of the New Hampshire Food Bank. “This exciting program has the potential to provide us with more than 20,000 meals for New Hampshire families.”
