Citizens Bank gives to Neighbors in Need in Rhode Island

Company partners with Citadel Broadcasting and Hasbro, Inc. to help local nonprofits and individuals struggling this holiday season

Providence, R.I.    (December 15, 2009) - Citizens Bank has announced that it has once again partnered with Citadel Broadcasting radio stations 92 PRO-FM, Lite Rock 105 and 630 WPRO and 99.7 FM this holiday season on Neighbors in Need, a program designed to help nonprofits and individuals who are struggling this holiday season.

“Citizens Bank and our colleagues understand that due to the challenges this past year has presented, it is more important than ever to take a moment out of our busy lives and focus on those less fortunate this holiday season,” said Ned Handy, President, Citizens Bank, Rhode Island. “Our partnership with Citadel Broadcasting for the Neighbors in Need program allows us to be involved with the community in the best way possible – and that is through giving back to those who need it most.”

Through the Neighbors in Need program, listeners on 92 PRO-FM, Lite Rock 105, and 630 WPRO AM can nominate members of their community who are in need of assistance. Nominations can be made on the stations’ Web sites.  On weekdays December 10 through December 18, Citizens is awarding $500 per day on 92 PRO-FM, Lite Rock 105 and 630 WPRO to a family that needs some extra help this holiday season. Additionally, a $250 donation will be made in that person’s name to the Rhode Island Community Food Bank and Crossroads Rhode Island to help other neighbors in need. This year, Hasbro is collaborating with Citizens Bank and Citadel Broadcasting to donate toys to each winning family.

“Hasbro is pleased to be a part of this wonderful program” said Brian Goldner, President and Chief Executive Officer, Hasbro, Inc. “We are happy to do our part and help bring a bit of joy to children in our community who really need it this holiday season.”

This partnership and program wouldn’t be possible without the support of Citadel Broadcasting’s staff and on-air talent.  “Citadel Communications is pleased to partner with Citizens Bank on Neighbors in Need once again this year,” said Barbara Haynes, General Manager of Citadel Broadcasting. “This program allows us to extend a helping hand to our community in a time when giving is truly important.”
