Citizens Bank offers complimentary financial education seminars, completes $150,000 grant to Mattapan Community Health Center as new Mattapan branch opens on-site

Mattapan Customer Appreciation Days and grand opening festivities take place September 21 & 22

BOSTON As part of its commitment to serving customers and supporting the communities in which it does business, Citizens Bank has designated September 21 & 22 “Mattapan Customer Appreciation Days” to celebrate the relocation of its new Mattapan branch located at the Mattapan Community Health Center complex at 1575 Blue Hill Avenue. The celebration will include a donation to the Mattapan Community Health Center, financial planning sessions and family friendly activities.

“We have planned two Mattapan Customer Appreciation days packed with information and activities to show customers how much we appreciate their business and how excited we are to be part of the revitalization of Mattapan Square,” said Jerry Sargent, President, Citizens Bank and RBS Citizens, Massachusetts. “Citizens Bank has deep roots in the Mattapan community, and we invite our neighbors to join us to celebrate the relocation of our branch to the Mattapan Community Health Center complex and to learn more about budgeting, managing debt and other financial education topics while they’re at it.”

“Citizens Bank experts will host four financial educational seminars to help customers learn about planning for retirement, budgeting, managing debt and purchasing a home on Friday, September 21. Seminars include.

  • “Retirement Planning” - 10 a.m.
  • "Budgeting for a Better Life” - 12 p.m.
  • " 10 Steps to Digging Out of Debt” - 2 p.m.
  • "Home Buying Essentials” - 4 p.m.

The free seminars will be held at the branch and customers are encouraged to reserve their place by calling the branch at 617-298-7927 by September 17.

On Saturday, September 22 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Citizens Bank customers and the general public are invited to attend fun activities for children and adults, which includes a ribbon cutting ceremony at 11 a.m., refreshments, special giveaways, a balloon artist and face painting (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.).

Funding for the new Mattapan Community Health Center included a three-year, $150,000 donation from the Citizens Bank Foundation. The final $50,000 grant installment will be presented during the ribbon cutting ceremony on September 22. The health center provides comprehensive medical and dental services to the local community.

“I want to thank the Citizens Bank Foundation for its ongoing partnership and generous support that has helped us to double our capacity to serve the local community,” said Dr. Azzie Young, President and CEO for the Mattapan Community Health Center. “I would also like to thank Citizens Bank for being such a cooperative partner.”

Earlier this summer, Citizens Bank’s Mattapan new branch moved to its permanent location on the ground floor of the new Mattapan Community Health Center.
