We all like to do what makes us comfortable. It might be changing into your favorite sweatpants at the end of a long day or visiting the same hairdresser or barber year after year. Many of us even have ways of managing our money that make us comfortable — like walking into your local branch and handing money to a teller.

There’s comfort in that.

But sometimes, for reasons we can’t control, we’re forced to step out of our comfort zones and learn new ways of doing things. The situation with COVID-19 has taught each of us that. Many people, for example, have had to learn to do their jobs from home. And others who’ve always done their banking in-person at branches have been learning new and often easier ways to connect with their money through online and mobile banking.

Sure, banking electronically may not be the same as striking up a conversation with your favorite teller. But it is secure, comfortable (you can do it in your favorite sweatpants), and faster … and it helps you maintain social distancing. You can access all the information and services you need to do your everyday banking and take control of your money, all in the comfort of your home.

Here are the perks of both online and mobile banking:

Benefits of online banking

Online banking allows you to connect with nearly all your accounts, including your checking, savings, money market, loan, line of credit, mortgage, and credit card accounts. It also makes it easier to:

1. Stay on top of your money: Get all the tools and information you need to know where your money stands now, where it’s going, and how well you’re saving for the future, such as:

  • Up-to-the-minute bank account balances
  • Ability to review up to 18 months of transactions on most accounts
  • Images of cleared checks
  • Account alerts that notify you about balances and specific account activity

2. Make transfers: Move money between your accounts without having to get off the couch. This helps you to:

  • Build savings by transferring money from your checking account(s)
  • Transfer money to pay your loans or get advances on your credit lines
  • Move money to and from your accounts at other financial institutions

3. Pay bills and people: Who said paying bills was difficult? Online bill payment makes it easy. You can pay just about anyone and even schedule payments in advance so you won’t have to worry about late fees.

  • Paperless: Pay bills without envelopes, stamps, or trips to the post office
  • Set recurring automatic payments, such as your rent or mortgage
  • Use Zelle® within our mobile app to send money to family or friends in minutes1 2
  • View payment history for easy recordkeeping at tax time

4. Access account services: Why wait in line to get service? With online banking, you can:

  • Order more checks

  • Sign up for electronic statements
  • Order copies of statements, checks, eNotices, and tax forms
