Volunteerism
Giving back is part of our Credo. Citizens harnesses the power of our colleagues to impact communities across our footprint. Last year, our colleagues provided more than 212,000 hours of volunteer service which supported more than 2,500 organizations. We support and recognize our colleagues’ volunteerism efforts. To reinforce our commitment to colleagues and our communities, Citizens offers colleagues paid hours to volunteer for causes about which they are passionate. Here are some of the ways our colleagues give back.
Driving financial empowerment
Through our Community Ambassador Program, colleagues volunteer to provide financial empowerment programming to support individuals and small businesses.
Leading through service
Our colleagues serve on nearly 1,000 boards or committees, lending their talent and expertise to support critical community service across our footprint.
Using our skills for our communities
Colleagues apply their knowledge and passion through various skills based volunteer opportunities, including our signature Skills Based Volunteer Day of Service, where colleagues consult with our nonprofit partners to solve critical challenges.
Recognizing our colleagues
Our Chairman’s Community Awards recognize an elite group of colleagues who make an impact in the community by volunteering 12 or more hours annually. Colleagues choose a charity of their choice to receive a contribution from Citizens.
Colleague Giving
At Citizens, we believe that when our communities prosper, we all thrive, which is why we’re proud to empower colleagues to support causes about which they are passionate. Through our Citizens Helping Citizens Colleague Giving Campaign and Matching Gift Program, colleagues can donate to their favorite causes or have a voice in how Citizens Charitable Foundation funding supports the community. Last year, the Citizens Charitable Foundation provided nearly $1.1 million in corporate matching gifts to amplify our colleagues’ generosity.
