Securely deposit a check in 5 simple steps

Be sure you're enrolled in Online Banking, and you've downloaded the Citizens Mobile Banking App for your iPhone® iPad®, or Android™

Citizens makes it easy for you to deposit checks anytime quickly and securely from virtually anywhere using the Citizens Mobile Banking app.

  1. Open the latest version of the Citizens Mobile Banking app and tap Deposit.
  2. Enter the amount of your deposit (make sure it matches what's on your check). Then select which account you want to deposit it into.
  3. Sign the back of your check and write "For Mobile Deposit to Citizens Only: below your signature.
  4. Tap the camera icons to take photos of the front and back of your check. Be sure they are on a dark background, in a well-lit area without anything else in the background or image.
  5. Double-check your deposit info, then tap Deposit. You're all set!

1 Citizens Mobile Banking App Users: You may download the Citizens Mobile Banking App allowing access to many of the same services and features available with your online banking service. You understand and acknowledge that to use this application, you must be an Android™, Apple®, iPhone®, iPod Touch®, or iPad® customer. You can view balances and transaction activity for eligible credit and deposit accounts included in your online banking. You may also perform transfers between your own Citizens accounts. Transfers to external accounts must be set up previously on Online Banking before they can be accessed via Mobile Banking. E-statements, transfer set-up, Quicken® and self-initiated services like stop payments are not available using your Citizens Mobile Banking App. Account e-statements are available for certain accounts via the iPad tablet application.

2 Citizens may offer the customer immediate availability if the mobile check deposit qualifies for Instant Funds from Citizens. Instant Funds provides immediate availability for withdrawals and new purchases.  If the check is deposited before 12:00 AM Eastern Time on a Business Day, Instant Funds can also be used to pay checks and other items that post to your account on that business day. Determining eligibility of a check(s) for Instant Funds is at the sole discretion of Citizens. Citizens reserves the right to set limits, eligibility, and/or qualifications at any time.
