In July 2023, the NAACP hosted its 114th annual national convention in Boston. The theme of the event, "Thriving Together," truly resonates with Citizens as we aim to help colleagues, customers and communities be resilient to thrive across all dimensions of life.
This year, the NAACP brought a three-day experience called The Hub to the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center. The Hub featured a collaborative space promoting Black culture and social impact, and it was the convention's social gathering spot. With free admission, people from all backgrounds came together for fellowship around the arts, culture, entertainment, science, business and technology. The Hub featured many engaging activities, including a Retail Lab highlighting Black entrepreneurs, health and wellness classes, sports events and presentations on cutting-edge technology.
The Hub also held a Career Summit on the second day of the NAACP conference. There, area businesses gathered to discuss exciting opportunities for career advancement.
As part of an ongoing commitment to fostering diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging, Citizens colleagues hosted a booth at the career fair and shared dynamic and valuable job opportunities around Greater Boston. Citizens has a strong history of hiring top talent from many different backgrounds, understanding that the strongest teams are composed of individuals with a wide range of experiences, identities and skill sets.
Representatives from the Citizens PRISM multicultural resource group attended the NAACP convention career summit to network with prospective colleagues and discuss their experiences working at the bank and the opportunities for growth and development.
