Can help provide a steady stream of income
Ask to speak to a Financial Advisor about annuities as part of your retirement strategy
You make tax-deferred investments to an annuity either in a lump sum or over time. Your funds accumulate tax deferred and will typically provide you with a predictable, steady stream of disbursements during retirement.
There are basically three types of annuity options – variable, indexed and fixed.
Variable annuities offer a wide array of investment options and are typically for investors who have a higher risk tolerance and have fully contributed to their other tax-deferred accounts.
With a variable annuity, you choose investments that you feel are best suited for your needs. You assume the risk of principal loss but you also increase your potential for higher returns. You also have the flexibility to select optional guaranteed benefits for the lifetime owner as well as the owner's spouse (if applicable).
An indexed annuity participates in equity market performance up to a limit, but still offers principal protection on the downside for those who are sensitive to stock market volatility. Index annuities have multiple ways to earn interest, allowing for flexibility of growth opportunities. Additional benefits may include income and legacy planning.
A fixed annuity can lock you into a competitive, guaranteed interest rate with terms from 3-10 years. Consider a fixed annuity if you would like a predictable rate of return without exposure to market fluctuations. Returns tend to be lower than that of a variable or indexed annuities. A fixed rate annuity is a strategy used in long-term planning.
