1. Deposit a check

No time to make a trip to the bank? With the Citizens mobile banking app, quickly and securely deposit a check on the spot, anytime. It's easy — the app removes the guesswork by prompting you at each step.1

To make a mobile check deposit:

  1. Tap "Deposit."
  2. Enter the amount of the check.
  3. Select the account you want the deposit to go to.
  4. Sign the back of the check. Below your signature, write "For Mobile Deposit to Citizens Only."
  5. Place the check on a dark background with good lighting and then take pictures of the front and back by tapping the camera icon.
  6. Make sure your deposit information is correct and tap "Deposit" to finish.

That's it! And if the deposit qualifies for Instant Funds from Citizens™, you'll have immediate access to the money for withdrawals and purchases. You can also use your funds to cover purchases that post to your account that business day if the deposit is made before 10:00 p.m. ET on business days.

2. Send money with Zelle®

If you need to split the cost of a bill, support a friend in need or pay your babysitter, you can use Zelle® in the Citizens mobile banking app to quickly send money — even if the person you are sending money to uses a different bank.2

Zelle® is a simple way to send and receive money between bank accounts, typically within minutes.2 You don't need the recipient's bank account information — just an email address or U.S. mobile number.

To use Zelle® to send money on the Citizens mobile banking app:

  1. Tap "Send Money with Zelle®."
  2. Enter the recipient's email address or U.S. mobile number.
  3. Enter the amount you want to send.
  4. Confirm the transaction.

Sending money with Zelle® is secure because it uses the same technology that's used to protect your bank. Your account information is protected with firewalls, state-of-the-art encryption technology and secure logins.

3. Transfer money between accounts

With the Citizens mobile banking app, easily and securely move funds between Citizens accounts to help you manage your finances. You could move money from a checking account to a savings account for better interest rates, for example, or from savings to checking to cover expenses.

To transfer money between accounts:

  1. Tap "Transfer."
  2. Select the account you want to transfer from.
  3. Select the account you want to transfer to.
  4. Enter the amount and tap "Transfer."

4. Freeze or unfreeze debit and credit cards

Credit card management has never been easier! If you ever lose a debit or credit card or your card is stolen, freezing it will prevent unauthorized transactions. This gives you time to look for your card or obtain a replacement. You should also freeze your card if you see unfamiliar transactions on your statement to protect yourself while you investigate them.

To quickly freeze a debit or credit card:

  1. Tap "Manage Cards."
  2. Select the card you want to freeze.
  3. A popup notification will give you the option to freeze or cancel. Select "Freeze."

When you are ready to unfreeze your card, just go back to "Manage Cards," select the frozen card, and confirm that you want to unfreeze it from the popup notification.

5. View your transaction history and more

Not sure how much money is in your account? Want to make sure a payment is correct? With the Citizens mobile banking app, get up-to-date information at your fingertips:

  • Check your account balance
  • See your transaction history, including payments, transfers and deposits
  • View statements and other account documents
